This book is an introduction to the fundamental concepts of systems which are used for computation, communication, and control. The systems are considered from a discrete, finite, or digital point of view.

This book is concerned with system, and in particular the unity of systems. Philosophical, mathematical, and engineering aspects of systems all contribute to this unity.

The goal in writing this book is to provide a unified introduction to systems which may be deterministic, probabilistic, sequential, or stochastic.

Most of the systems studied here are man-made and motivated by man's desire to communicate and control.

Binary digital systems are ideal for such a study because their basic elements are extremely simple.

Digital systems are not only conceptually but they are also computationally convenient and practical.

This book contain about :  an introduction and overview; deterministic digital systems; set and n-tuples; interaction; probabilistic systems; sequential systems; stochastic systems; large digital systems.
