The effect of availability and needs on the price stability of shallot in Semarang city



Price stability is the maintenance of a general price level that does not change over time in an economy. This price stability is influenced by several factors, including the amount of production, distribution channels, food availability and food needs. In Indonesia, prices are still experiencing instability which can threaten the economy. This study aims to analyze the effect of availability and needs on the price stability of shallot in Semarang City. The data collection methods used in this research are interview and literature review. The data used are the daily data of shallot commodity within the month of April and May 2020; they consist of availability, needs, and price stability data that was obtained from Dinas Perdagangan Kota Semarang. By using the assistance of SPSS 25 software, the data analysis methods used in this research are classical assumption test, multiple linear regression, coefficient of determination, ANOVA test, and t-test. The coefficient determination of this research is 0.582, which means that the contribution of availability and needs on the price stability of shallot is 58.2% and the remaining 41.8% is influenced by other variables that are not examined in this research. The results of this research show that availability and needs of shallot have an effect on the price stability.
