Transformational leadership, information technology as antecedent of brand perceived and its impact on business performance : study case of millennial business ownership
The Ministry of Communication and Information (2019) reported that in 2018 4.9 million Indonesia SMEs using digital platforms, or only 7.65% of all SMEs in Indonesia. These values indicate high enthusiasm of SMEs to connect digitally on doing their business. In the current disruption era, the SMEs should more adaptive with the climate changes that now has been shifted to digitalization era. It means that Indonesia has massive potential of being a digital country but SMEs are usually get stuck in progress due to lack of creativity caused by the evolution and the developing of generation so it has to be measured periodically. This research has purposed to build and confirm a new emphirical model based on the research gap between transformational leadership on business performance. Based on the result, the p-value of F-test is 0.000 it is less than 0.05(α) so transformational leadership has an influence on business performance mediated by brand perceived. Unless the information technology does not has significant effect on business performance through brand perceived. The results of the analysis of 100 millennial respondents using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) obtained results that: (1) positive effect on information technology of brand perceived, (2) positive effect on transformational leadership on brand perceived. (3) there is no effect on information technology of business performance, (4) there is no effect of transformational leadership of business performance (5) there is positive effect of brand perceived of business performance (6) there is no effect of information technology on business performance through brand perceived (7) positive effect of transformational leadership on business performance through brand perceived. In conclusion the millennial owners business should be improve their leadership skill using innovation and creativity indeed improving their brand in order to give an adaptive business so it will implied to be more sustainable.
