Analysis of Foam Inventory Control System as an Effort to Minimize Inventory Cost (A Case Study in PT. Harrison and Gil Java Semarang)



This study aims to analyze foam inventory control system and also forecasting foam usage for the future month on the next year in PT Harrison and Gil Java. The data used in this research was secondary data such as: foam inventory recap, and costs associated with ordering and inventorying foam. The analysis used in this research were forecasting, accuracy of forecasting, safety stock, ROP analysis, and JIT concept. Forecasting trend value was negative but still accurate because tracking signal graph was in the range of ±4. Meanwhile, JIT Concept implemented by the company could not help to minimize inventory cost and Safety Stock should be determined was 152 sheets and the ROP was 320 sheets. Moreover, the company has not reached cost efficiency. According to the research results, it has suggested that: forecasting inventory control using Trend Projection method not judgmental forecast, rearrange the implemented method, calculating Safety Stock and ROP using mathematical calculations, and the company should consider the cooperation agreement with supplier.
